Great location and good price/quality ratio

Hotel in a great location, close to Piazza Duomo , San Lorenzo district and Santa Maria Novella Station. Sober and clean rooms. Excellent price/quality ratio. Unfortunately, there is no elevator. Friendly staff.

Hotel Romagna's location cannot be beat. It is close to the heart of Florence as well as the train station. I had the family room with one single in one room connected by a tiny hall to the other room of two singles that can be pushed together. The bathroom divided the rooms. A/C was working but as with most hotel units, it never got cold enough. The bathroom was small but efficient and the toilet button needs to be pumped to actually begin the flow. The hotel is a bit tight to get into as there is an ATM machine in the outside entry. A double set of windows keeps the outside noise to a minimum.
The only negative once you get there is the lack of an elevator. Staff will assist with luggage if needed, but if you are not fully capable of 2,3,4,5 flights of stairs, you may want to find a different hotel.
Overall, a very good experience. Even the older male at the counter softens up after a day or two.

Hostel like low quality.

Location was the only thing as advertised.
The entry is blocked by ATM machine - hard to get in and out with suitcases. Old carpeting, old paint job with heavy signs of use and dirt on walls. No headboards - single thin pillows right on walls with stains from other peoples use. Substandard bathroom fittings. Substandard low price point very used IKEA furniture. For two rooms they call delux there was one chair in small room. No basic coffee maker or fridge. This hotel was straight out of 1980. Regardless of old architecture - this was a very low quality and used, shabby hotel. My partner and I left right after checking in for another hotel that was as advertised.
Unless you are used to travelling in hostels and very low budged price point - don’t bother. The price does not reflect what you will get.
Place need serious updates in furnishings and equipment. Just because the building g is historic does not excuse owners from keeping the place up. Others do it quite well.

Close proximity to the metro. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Easy walk to the Colisseum and other historic locations.
Elevator worked well. Staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions and recommendations. A/C worked well. Our room was on the interior of the building and the windows opened to a courtyard of sorts so the room was quiet.
Room was on the small side but that's Rome. Good value for money. We would stay there again.
